The Defiance College Annual Fund has surpassed its goal by 4.76 percent for the 2006-07 fiscal year. This year’s goal of $1,005,000 was reached and exceeded with gifts totaling $1,052,813.
Annual Fund gifts underwrite the college’s operating expenses by helping to provide student scholarships, assisting faculty with their teaching and curricular needs, purchasing books and materials for the library, and helping underwrite fine arts events. Scholarship assistance utilizes a significant share of the Annual Fund received allowing financially deserving and academically talented students to pursue a college education at DC.
The Annual Fund surpassed last year’s total by 11 percent.
“Many people do not realize that the revenue received for tuition from students and their families does not cover the cost of their education at Defiance College,” said Dr. Gerald E. Wood, president. “This means in order to deliver a quality education for our students we must rely on the generosity of alumni and friends of the College, corporations, businesses, and foundations who believe in our mission.
“We are grateful that supporters of Defiance College have responded in such a positive fashion. An increase in Annual Fund giving is a testament to many loyal supporters who want Defiance College to continue to excel.”
