The new sensation Recycled Percussion will perform a “junk rock” concert as part of Homecoming 2007 festivities at Defiance College. The band uses everything to create instruments – plastic buckets, bed springs, chainsaws, jackhammers and more – combined with plenty of duct tape and even more energy to create a dynamic mix of hip hop and rock music.
One of the most powerful touring shows in the country, Recycled Percussion will perform Saturday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. in the Weaner Community Center.
Founded by former member Justin Spencer, Recycled Percussion began playing throughout New Hampshire at schools and local clubs. As its popularity grew, the band ventured into the college market.
Recycled Percussion has been labeled one of the country’s hottest bands, according to NBC’s Today Show. Known as the “environmentally friendly” band, Recycled Percussion combines a blend of power-percussion, funk beats, rock, and bass-thumping that makes for a show full of explosive energy. Audience members are often asked to participate, making the concert highly interactive.
Since 2002, the band has played for more than half a million college students each year. They have won awards including Best Major Performance Group as selected by college students. They have been featured on the Today Show and often play during NBA play-off games.
Tickets can be purchased at the Defiance College Alumni Office, Downtown Defiance Visitors Bureau, and Chief Supermarkets. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under.
