The DC Players’ fall production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will open Thursday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. at the Arts and Media Center, 319 Wayne St., in downtown Defiance. The musical continues Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17, at 8 p.m., and wraps up on Sunday with a 2 p.m. matinee. Co-sponsoring the production along with the DC Players are the Defiance Community Cultural Council and Northwest State Community College.
First performed in London in 1968, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was written by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice. Based on the Biblical tale of Joseph and his 11 brothers, the light-hearted musical was first performed on Broadway in 1982.
The performance includes a cast of 68, production staff of 12, and is directed by Ken Neuenschwander, theater director at Napoleon High School for 35 years. This is the fifth time that Neuenschwander has directed “Joseph.” The diverse cast ranges in age from 6 to 60 with actors from across northwest Ohio. Producer is Dr. Richard Stroede. Music director is Janet Lyne, with Dr. Stacey Elsasser as accompanist.
Portraying Joseph will be Defiance College freshman Mark Vendevender of Westlake. Brother Jacob is portrayed by DC student Don Hasselswerth of Defiance. Narrators include Justin Hines and Anna Sagle, Archbold.
Brothers include Adam Schlett, Phil Williamson, David Stork, Adam Hart, Tony Tijerina, Logan Gerken, Dale Giffey and Matt Mt. Castle. Pharaoh is portrayed by Nick Rausch of Napoleon.

Include name, telephone, date of performance you will be attending, and number of adult and student tickets you wish to reserve. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. Reserved tickets can be picked up at the box office that will open 45 minutes before each performance.
