Lima artist’s works on exhibit at Defiance College

“Gender Politics,” an exhibit of paintings and drawings by Michael Huffman, is currently on display in the Defiance College Women’s Commission Gallery.  Huffman, an artist and educator since 1975, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green and Ohio State Universities.  He currently teaches in the Lima City School system.

Huffman’s bold studies of flowers, fruit, and the human figure explore sexual and gender issues.  The artist writes: “Over the past three to five years I have somehow developed an interest in saying something with my work.  To me one of the core issues society has historically grappled with is sexual or gender politics.  From Eden to Iraq, from the kitchen, the bedroom, workplace and houses of Congress, it is at the root of all balances.”
