Students Win Writing Contest

Writers Group of Defiance County Arts Council and Progeny, the student-edited literary magazine of Defiance College, are pleased to announce the winners of the Fall 2007 writing contest. Jamie Wilmot, an Integrated Language Arts major, has won first prize. The two second prizes go to Angela Santo, a Middle Childhood Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics major, and Brooke Shinabarger, a Business Administration major and Art minor.

Entries for the contest were judged in a blind review by five of the members of Writers Group: Lorraine Andrews, Alene Williams, Lynn Gilliland, Alton Myers, and Deb Weaks. Every semester Writers Group of Defiance County Arts Council supports student interest in the literary arts through its sponsorship of the contest. The prize winners receive book scholarships at the Defiance College bookstore
