There will be something for the entire family at the Third Annual Holiday Pops Concert presented by the Defiance College Community Band on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Kids of all ages will enjoy the music of the Christmas season in Defiance Community Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
Director Vincent Polce promises musical fun for everyone with appearances by guest vocal soloists Kristen Coffman and Randy Schroeder. Other highlights will include the Christmas Dancers of the Defiance Dance Studio, the Carol Ayres Vocal Ensemble, the Christmas Flutes, and a visit from the Grinch, portrayed by Gary Taylor. Featured will be unique and festive performances of some of the world's greatest holiday music.
“We are pleased to present this holiday concert for our audience,” said Polce. “We have a package of holiday music for the young and not so young to include special guest soloists.”
He said the program for the free concert includes “Frosty the Snowman,” “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” “The Christmas Song,” and a sing-a-long with the audience joining the band. “Of course, we expect a visitor from the North to make a very special appearance, and a treat will be given to all kids in attendance,” he added. Polce also encouraged parents to bring cameras to take pictures of their children with Santa.
The Defiance College Community Band was organized in 1977 to serve the musical needs of Defiance College, provide artistic performance opportunities for the Defiance community, and provide a performance outlet for members of the community.
There is no admission charge to the holiday event.
