Lady Jackets to sponsor food drive
at Nov. 21 home game

The Defiance College women’s basketball team will sponsor a Thanksgiving service project to benefit a local homeless shelter and food kitchen. Anyone bringing two non-perishable food items to the Wednesday, Nov. 21, Lady Jackets’ basketball game will receive free admission. All of the food collected will be donated to the food pantry of the PATH Center.

Tip-off time for the game against Hope College is 6 p.m. in the Weaner Community Center.

Head coach Dic Doumanian said he hopes to make the project an annual event. “This is a way for the team to give something back to the community for its support of our program and Defiance College,” he noted. “What better time than Thanksgiving to show our appreciation and extend a helping hand to those in need.”
Defiance College athletic teams participate in a variety of community service projects through the Office of Student Athlete Engagement.
