Writers Group of Defiance County Arts Council supports the literary arts on the Defiance College campus through its sponsorship of the now-biannual Progeny writing contest. Writers Group judges the entries of DC students and provides book scholarships to winning entries. The winning entries are showcased in Progeny, the student-edited literary and visual arts magazine.
The Writers Group judges this spring were (pictured left to right) Alton Myers, Myron Bok, Lynn Gilliland and Lorraine Andrews. In a blind review, they awarded first prize to the work of Angela Santo. Santo’s submissions included a science fiction short story and a poem about loss. Victoria McMaster and Rachel Baker received second prizes for their entries. Both McMaster and Baker submitted poetry as well as prose works. |
