Several spring education workshops are still available through this year’s Professional Enrichment and Renewal Classes (PERC) at Defiance College. The PERC program gives busy educators the opportunity to earn continuing education hours, master’s credit, or licensure/certificate renewal credits. The convenient weekend schedules offer participants the opportunity to earn credits in a short timeframe; each workshop earning the participant one credit-hour.
All workshops are held Fridays from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Remaining workshops include: March 28-29, Critical Issues in Youth Sport and Physical Education, taught by Professor Matt Lydum; March 28-29, History and Conservation of Ohio Forests for the Regular Classroom Teacher, taught by Bill Grimes; April 11-12, Bravo! How What You Can Do Right Can Be the Key to Student Achievement, taught by Dr. Stacy Elsasser; and April 25-26, Teaching for Social Responsibility: Pedagogy That Works, taught by Dr. Sandra Golden.
The workshops comply with the guidelines of No Child Left Behind requirements for quality professional development for educators. These graduate-level classes fit within recommended content. With approval of their instructor, participants can register for one additional credit hour.
For more information or to register for PERC workshops, contact the Center for Adult and Graduate Programs at 419-783-2351 or mcall@defiance.edu, or go online at www.defiance.edu.
