Ambassador Tony Hall will speak Monday, Oct. 20, on the Defiance College campus on the topic, “Voting All Our Values: The Range of Values Issues in the 2008 Election.” The hour-long event, sponsored by Sen. Barack Obama’s Religious Affairs Department, will be held at 5 p.m. in the Hubbard Banquet Room of the Serrick Campus Center.
Hall represented the Third District of Ohio in the U.S. Congress for nearly 24 years before becoming U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture from 2002–2005. He was the keynote speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2005, was the man of the year from the National Association of Evangelicals, and was the lead sponsor of the law that designated the National Day of Prayer (chaired by Shirley Dobson). Three times nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, Ambassador Hall is a leading advocate for hunger relief programs and improving human rights conditions in the world.
