Defiance College’s Center for Adult and Graduate Program (CAP) Student Liaisons are sponsoring several activities and want to encourage campus-wide support.
First is the annual tradition related to the big OSU - Michigan game. The game is November 22 which also happens to be a Weekend College session weekend. CAP students are being encouraged to show their spirit by wearing their favorite team colors.
In addition, CAP will hold its annual OSU vs U of M food drive. This year it has been expanded to include non-food items such as diapers, wipes, laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, etc. The non-food items will be given to Ravens while the food items are donated to the Family Justice Center. This organization advocates for the survivors of domestic violence. They have a food pantry to help the battered women who come to them. Their supply level has been very low since July when some grant monies ran out. The CAP program wants to help them restock their shelves. Persons should bring in a donation and place it in the box representing their favorite team. On Saturday, November 22, we'll determine which team's fans have shown the most spirit for their team and the most heart for their community! (FYI: The OSU fans are ahead right now but not by much!)
Continuing the spirit of giving, the Liaisons are also supporting this year's Christmas for Kids campaign. This effort supports the kids in the five counties of northwest Ohio by trying to ensure that all children experience the joy that comes from the gift of giving by others. Donations of new unwrapped toys and books (or a monetary donation) are being accepted in the CAP office from now until December 18. On December 6, some of the liaisons will take what's been brought in to WDFM's live drive at the Defiance Mall, donating them on behalf of the adult students from Defiance College. Any toys collected after that date will be taken to the last Christmas for Kids broadcast location which will be at Biggby's Coffee on December 18.
