Defiance College’s 122nd commencement was held Sunday, May 10 with two-hundred and five graduates awarded diplomas. A beautifully sunny day (with just a little wind), the campus greens were filled with family members eagerly awaiting the chance to congratulate their graduate.
Alumnus Dr. Robert Head was the speaker for the event and also received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for his outstanding commitment to civic engagement and to the field of education. Student Nick Weber was the speaker for the class of 2009.
William O’Toole, associate professor business administration was presented the professor emeritus citation and Dick Stroede was recognized for his participation in his 45th commencement event. Pilgrim medals were awarded to Dr. Vincent Polce for his service to community and Dr. Charles Warren for his contributions to the college. Samantha Stegeman was awarded the student Pilgrim Medal.
