DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College Community Band welcomes in the holidays with its Sixth Annual Family Holiday Pops concert. The concert will be held in the Defiance Community Auditorium, downtown Defiance, on Tuesday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m.
“We are pleased to present this holiday concert for our audience,” stated music director Vincent Polce. “We have a package of holiday music for the young and not so young to include Dr. Robert Barnett and Hannah Booth as vocal soloists and euphonium soloist Jason Luthy.”
Many traditional Christmas carols will be performed including the audience joining the band in a holiday sing-a-long. “Of course, we expect a visitor from the North to make a very special appearance, and a treat will be given to all kids in attendance,” added Polce.
Additional special guests include conductor laureate Richard Stroede, The Christmas Dancers of the Defiance Dance Studio, The Holiday Bones, and Bob Barnett and Hannah Booth reading "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" by Francis P. Church, first published in The New York Sun in 1897.
“Audience members are sure to be entertained and full of holiday spirit during this special holiday pops performance,” Polce said.
The concert is free and open to the public. Parents are welcome to bring their camera to take photos of the kids with Santa Claus.
