DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Sixth Annual Defiance College Community Band Holiday Pops concert will feature local guest soloists Hannah Booth and Dr. Robert Barnett. They will be reading the Christmas classic "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" by Francis P. Church, first published in The New York Sun in 1897. The concert will be held in the Defiance Community Auditorium, downtown Defiance, on Tuesday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m.
Booth will also perform “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” while Barnett will sing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.
The band is under the direction of Dr. Vincent Polce and assisted by conductor laureate Dr. Richard Stroede.
Also performing will be euphonium soloist Jason Luthy, Christ Christmas Dancers of the Defiance Dance Studio, and the Holiday Bones.
The concert is free and open to the public. Parents are welcome to bring their cameras to take photos of the kids with Santa Claus.
