More than 170 talented high school seniors recently participated in Defiance College’s Scholarship Day program. Scholarship Day is a bi-annual event at Defiance College offering awards to students in three categories: Presidential, Pilgrim, and Achievement.
Students completed an essay and took part in a personal interview with a DC faculty member, staff member, and a current student or alumnus. Dollar amounts ranged from $9,000 to full tuition. In addition, students wishing to participate in DC’s culture of engagement, a central mission of the College, interviewed for Citizen Leader Awards in the amount of $2,000. The Citizen Leader Award recognizes students with a demonstrated record of service in their community and offers them unique programs to develop leadership skills to strengthen their individual career interests.
“Scholarship Day is a significant event at Defiance College,” said Mike Suzo, vice president for enrollment management. “For the 2008-09 school year, we awarded nearly $3 million in scholarships. These scholarships recognize the academic achievements of students and demonstrates DC’s commitment to attract quality students to the campus.”
Students must have been accepted for admission by January 31 to be able to attend Scholarship Day.
