DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Community Band will take listeners on a musical journey around the world as they perform music from some of the world’s finest composers. Well-known melodies from Germany, Austria, Russia, France and America will be featured. The final concert of the 2008-09 season titled “A Serenade, Some Dances, A Hoagy, and a Happy New Year Too!” will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Defiance Community Auditorium.
A xylophone duet featuring DCCB members Chas Meyers and Terry Krause will be highlighted as well as the tuba and euphonium sections of the band.
“Our final concert of the season will include a varied program along with many familiar melodies,” said Vincent Polce, Music Director/Conductor of the DCCB. “From ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’ (Fanfare from ‘2001 – A Space Odyssey’) to American Big Band music of Benny Goodman, we believe there is something for everyone to enjoy.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
