DC Speaker Jamie Zimron
to discuss the Middle East Conflict

DEFIANCE, Ohio –Defiance College will host a special presentation by Jamie Leno Zimron entitled “Understanding the Conflict in Palestine and Israel and Different Methods of Dealing with this Conflict.” The event will be held Tuesday, April 21, in Schomburg Auditorium with an afternoon participatory event at 2:15 p.m. and an evening lecture at 7 p.m.

In an effort to bring more light and understanding to the Middle East conflict, Zimron’s presentation will discuss the Middle East conflict, foster inter-ethnic understanding, build bi-communal bridges of friendship, hope and cooperation and introduce a new paradigm for peacemaking.

A dual American-Israeli Jewish citizen, Zimron has been working with Palestinians since the Oslo Accords in the mid-90s. She is a Citizen's Diplomat, Aikido Sensei and a co-founder and director of the Mideast Salaam Shalom Aikido Peace Project and Training Across Borders. She travels regularly to help bring Israelis and Arabs together through dialogue and non-violent conflict resolution practices.

Zimron holds a fifth degree black belt, is an MFT and sports psychologist, master bodyworker, and mind-body fitness trainer. She is a board member of Aiki Extensions and Budo or Peace, senior trainer for a variety of national martial arts organizations, and an advisory board member of the Mideast Compassionate Listening Project.

Zimron will share inspiring stories and images from Citizen’s Diplomacy projects in Israel and Palestine, and how three boys - one Jewish, one Christian, one Muslim—came together to one of the oldest camps in America last summer.

The event is free and open to the public
