DEFIANCE, Ohio – Dr. William C. Harris, Professor Emeritus from North Carolina State University and recipient of the Lincoln Prize and Abraham Lincoln Institute Award, will be the presenter at the next Lincoln Series event scheduled for Sunday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. The lecture will be held in Schomburg Auditorium on the campus of Defiance College and is free and open to the public.
Harris will speak about “The Role of Myth Versus Reality.” An accompanying exhibit to be displayed in the Women’s Commission Gallery will focus on the multitude of books in print with Abraham Lincoln as the subject.
Harris is a noted Lincoln scholar and has authored several books including With Charity for All: Lincoln and the Restoration of the Union (1997), Lincoln’s Last Months (2004), and Lincoln’s Rise to the Presidency (2007).
The yearlong series is sponsored by Defiance College and the City of Defiance. Additional financial assistance for the lecture and exhibit series is being provided by the Ohio Humanities Council. The next Lincoln Series event is scheduled for September 10 and will feature a presentation by Dr. Michelle Tabit discussing the impact of Lincoln’s spouse.
