DEFIANCE, Ohio – Dr. Marian R. Plant, associate professor of Christian education and Schauffler Chair at Defiance College, was recently named one of six recipients of the United Church of Christ’s Excellence in Teaching award.
Recipients embody in word and deed vibrant teaching ministries in local churches of the UCC. They were selected to receive the Excellence in Teaching award in recognition of the critical importance they place on the teaching ministry. Recipients will be honored at the 27th General Synod of the UCC meeting in Grand Rapids, Mich. in June.
Also receiving the Excellence in Teaching award are Rev. Richard McBride, Elon College, Elon, N.C.; Deborah Bailey, UCC Local Church Ministries, Cleveland; Lesley Salas, UCC Local Church Ministries, Cleveland; Dr. Mark Moak, Rocky Mountain College, Billings, Mont.; and Lynn Young, Colorado Springs.
Past Defiance College recipients include the late Richard Howard, professor and Schauffler Chair, and Margaret Mills, alumna and current trustee fellow.
