DEFIANCE, Ohio – Dr. Marian R. Plant, associate professor of Christian education and Schauffler Chair at Defiance College, recently had her book Faith Formation in Vital Congregations published. The book provides a framework for ordained or lay pastors; professional church educators; family life coordinators; educational ministry volunteers; and committee, task force, or board members to provide strategies for preparing the way forward in adult Christian formation.
Faith Formation in Vital Congregations is part of the Congregational Vitality series providing local churches with tools to revitalize and prepare themselves for ministry in the 21st century. The book is published and available at The Pilgrim Press as well as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other Christian book resources.
In additional to teaching, Dr. Plant also serves as the co-coordinator of the Defiance College Design for Leadership program, an online undergraduate program focusing on Christian education, faith formation and local church leadership. She received her bachelor’s degree from Defiance College, a Master of Divinity degree from The Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and her Ed.D. from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. She is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and one of its certified church education specialists.
