DEFIANCE, Ohio – Matt Lydum, assistant professor of education at Defiance College, received the Fred Wilt Award for Coaching Education presented by USA Track and Field during their recent annual meeting in Virginia Beach. The award is given to outstanding national leaders in the training of coaches.
Lydum is director of the instructor training course, the program that certifies new instructors for the Level 1 program. In 2010, he served as school director for the USATF Level 2 Youth Program and taught a number of Level 1 schools throughout the country. In 2008, he was project writer for the Human Kinetics text Coaching Youth Track and Field.
In addition to his faculty role, Lydum is a part-time assistant track and field coach at DC.
Defiance College, chartered in 1850, is an independent, liberal arts institution in Northwest Ohio offering more than 40 undergraduate programs of study as well as graduate programs in education and business.
