Defiance College will be assisting in the Haiti relief effort by collecting and donating hygiene kits to be distributed by Church World Service. Collection boxes for the kits will be located on the DC campus Jan. 19 through Feb. 6. The kits will be packed and shipped Feb. 8 and 9.
Materials and monetary donations (to help with processing and shipping of kits) can be dropped off in the Office of Spiritual Life in Hubbard Hall or in the Office of Institutional Advancement in Defiance Hall. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the DC women’s basketball game on Jan. 16. Make checks payable to Defiance College with “Haiti relief” in the information line.
To assemble a hygiene kit you will need:
One hand towel measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels) One washcloth One wide-tooth comb One nail clipper (no metal files or emery boards) One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper) One toothbrush (in original packaging) Six Band-Aids®
Please do not add toothpaste to the Hygiene Kit. Toothpaste that has an extended expiration date will be added to Hygiene Kit shipments just prior to shipment. Seal all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure.
