Sax 4th Avenue Quartet featured at
DCCB Cabaret Concert

Avenue Quartet

It will be an evening of music, conversation and desserts as the Defiance College Community Band presents “Come to the Cabaret, My Friends,” on Saturday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m.  This third annual event will be held in the Weaner Community Center on the campus of Defiance College with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.  All seats are by reservation only.

The concert, titled “Broadway, Swing, Some Hills and a Ball Too!” will feature a variety of music including selections from Broadway, the musical theatre, the Big Band era, and guest soloists. Appearing with the band will be the award-winning Sax 4th Avenue Quartet and guest vocalists, Defiance natives Kristen Coffman and Mark Schnitkey.

Sax 4th Avenue is an exciting and innovative saxophone quartet from the Toledo area. The group members include Stanley George on soprano saxophone, Shannon Ford playing alto saxophone, Kevin Heidbreder playing tenor saxophone, and Jason Yost on baritone saxophone. Since its formation in 1991, the quartet has entertained audiences throughout the Midwest with its unique brand of virtuosity, showmanship and humor.  The quartet's expanding repertoire includes the finest in saxophone literature, original compositions, jazz standards and music that incorporates improvisation and choreography.

“We are pleased to present an evening of entertainment on the Defiance College campus for the college and Defiance community,” said music director and conductor Vincent Polce. “We have many musical treats for the audience with delicious desserts and beverages served by the Defiance College/Sodexo food service personnel.”

Seating is limited and table reservations may be reserved for as few as one person to as many as eight.  For more information or to make reservations, please contact Linda Schatz at 419-784-2606 or email at Schatzrl@defnet.com. This popular event has the potential to sell-out early.
