Defiance College’s DC Players will present Charles Schultz’s comic strip-based play “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,” on Friday, March 19, at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 21, at 2 p.m. in the Arts and Media Center at the corner of Third and Wayne Street, Defiance.
The play is a series of vignettes based on the famous Peanuts© comic strip. Through the vignettes, the audience will come to know the personalities of all of the characters in the play – all of their quirks, foibles, and strengths. The main focus is on Charlie Brown, a little boy full of self doubt, fear, and hope. With the help of his friends he learns to accept his own shortcomings and the humanity in others.
“Charlie Brown” stars Marcus MtCastle as Charlie Brown, Mark Vandevender of Westlake, as Snoopy, Matt MtCastle as Schroeder, Anna Yoder as Lucy, Anthony Jamison II, Cleveland, as Linus and Camille Purdy, Cleveland, as Sally.
Additionally, the DC Players are planning two performances at the Defiance Elementary School on Friday, March 19. The performances will allow the entire school to enjoy a shorter version of the production. The students will have the opportunity to meet and have pictures taken with the cast of Peanuts characters following each show.
Seating at the Arts and Media Center is limited and available by reservation only. Adult admission is $10 and students under 18 are $8. Reservations can be made by calling Carolyn Gilgenbach at 419-783-2462 or by e-mail at cgilgenbach@defiance.edu
