DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Concert Choir will be performing John Rutter’s “Requiem” on Sunday, April 11, at 4 p.m. The event will be held in the sanctuary of St. John United Church of Christ, 950 Webster St.
The 60-voice concert choir consists of both DC students and community members. The choir will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra with instrumentalists from Defiance College and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.
Rutter’s “Requiem” is a medium-size choral work lasting approximately 40 minutes with movements in Latin and English. Written in memoriam for the composer’s father, the work takes a journey from darkness to light telling a story of death, faith and peace.
“This work is a true joy to hear and will leave you singing its beautiful melodies. Join us for a relaxing and uplifting Sunday afternoon,” said Andrew Schultz, Defiance College director of music programs.
The event is open to the public, and a free will offering will be accepted. A reception will immediately follow in the fellowship hall.
