DEFIANCE, Ohio –The Defiance College Community Band presents “Come to the Cabaret, My Friends,” on Saturday, March 27, at 7:30 p.m. with guest vocalists, Defiance natives Kirsten Coffman and Mark Schnitkey. The concert, titled “Broadway, Swing, Some Hills and a Ball, Too!” will feature a variety of music including selections from Broadway, the musical theatre, and the Big Band era.
This third annual event will be held in the Weaner Community Center on the campus of Defiance College with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. All seats are by reservation only.
Schnitkey is a recorded singer-songwriter who has been performing professionally for 32 years. He has been a television spokesperson for companies such as The Andersons, Volkswagen and Discover Card and has 22 television commercials and voice-overs to his credit. A Napoleon native, Schnitkey now resides in Defiance with his wife, Melissa, and four children.
Defiance native, Kirsten Coffman, began singing at the age of seven with her family gospel’s group, The Heaven Heirs. She has always had a love for the stage and treasures the opportunity to perform, especially with the Fort Defiance Players. Her most current role was the part of Maria in last April’s production of “The Sound of Music.” Coffman is a graduate of Ayersville High School and has her bachelor’s degree in music education from Heidelberg College and master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. She is currently teaching music at Fairview Elementary School. Coffman resides in Defiance with her husband, Jeremy, and their daughter.
