Defiance College Community Band
to perform spring concert April 27

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Community Band will perform its final concert of the 2009-10 season on Tuesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. The concert “Something Old, Something New, A Cruise Down the Highway, and Some Pasta Too!” will be held at the Defiance Community Auditorium in downtown Defiance.

Musical selections including marches, familiar melodies, music from the classics, and special soloists are all blended for an evening of superb musical entertainment.  This outstanding organization has thrilled audiences with rousing performances this season, and the final performance promises to be just as exciting.

Music Director/conductor Vincent Polce will conduct the 85 musicians in an eclectic array of titles. The concert will feature outstanding members of the band including trombone soloist Scott Rogers, trumpet soloist Tim Booth, and vocal soloist Rick Rufenacht. 

“We have been genuinely pleased with the terrific response to our concerts,” said Polce. “To have such large and enthusiastic crowds has been exciting. Our mission is to provide an artistic venue for our audiences to hear quality band literature played at a high level of proficiency. We believe this final concert will include an enjoyable variety of music for everyone.”

The concert is free and open to the public.
