DEFIANCE, Ohio – With the 2010-11 academic year just around the corner, the Defiance College football team has arrived on campus to begin preparation for its upcoming season. It has become a tradition for the team to kick off each new year with a community service day. This year, student-athletes spread out across the city and county to lend a hand on Wednesday, Aug. 11. Their sites included Kids’ Creation playground, Bronson and Riverside parks, Camp Lakota, Camp Libbey, Riverside Cemetery, city water tower grounds, and the DC campus, all in Defiance; and the Defiance County fairgrounds in Hicksville. In addition, football team members sorted and checked warehoused Christmas lights for the city of Defiance. Additional sports teams and campus organizations will arrive soon, with the remainder of the student body moving in on Saturday, Aug. 21.Evening classes begin on Aug. 23 and day classes on Aug. 24.
