DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Women’s Commission Gallery is hosting an exhibit of works by Greg Jones titled “Babes in Toyland: In Search of Humanity.” The show opened Nov. 14, and an opening reception with the artist will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.
Jones is an instructor of art and gallery director at Adrian College, Mich. He also teaches at the University of Toledo. Jones holds a master’s degree in studio arts from the University of Illinois and a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Bowling Green State University.
An exhibit of paintings and drawings, “Babes in Toyland” uses depictions of children’s toys as stand-ins for humans and puts a playful spin on images that explore the darker side of human nature. The exhibit will run through Dec. 9.
The Defiance College Women’s Commission Gallery is located in Dana Hall, next to Schomburg Auditorium. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by appointment. For more information, contact gallery coordinator Jan Bechtel at 419-783-2444.
