2011 Empty Bowls Dinner to be Held Feb. 10

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The eleventh annual Empty Bowls event to benefit the PATH Center is planned for Thursday, Feb. 10, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Knights of Columbus Hall, 111 Elliott Road. The project is jointly sponsored by the Defiance College Social Work Organization, art department, and office of spiritual life. The goal is to raise funds to help feed the hungry, with all proceeds going to the PATH Center.

Area restaurants and individuals make and donate a variety of soups and breads included in the dinner menu, with soup served in handmade bowls. Defiance College art students and local artist Brandon Knott with the help of Bryan High School will be making bowls for this year’s event. Diners will be encouraged to continue using these one-of-a-kind bowls as a reminder of those who their donations will serve.

Restaurants, organizations and individuals donating items for the dinner include Applebee’s, Arps Dairy, Big Boy Family Restaurant, Black Lantern, Bob Evans Restaurant, Bud’s Restaurant, Buck and Barbara Buchanan, Cabin Fever, Captain D’s Seafood, Carmine’s Little Italy, Casa Vieja, Cosmo’s Restaurant, DC Women’s Club, Sherrie English, Kissner’s, Foods for Living, Jacob’s Meats, Jimmy’s, Maumee Valley Vending, McDonald’s Restaurant, Nancy’s Restaurant, Bunkie Obermyer, Panera Bread of Fort Wayne, Papa John’s Pizza, Primo’s Italian Restaurant, Scotty’s, Sodexo, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Sondergaard, St. John United Church of Christ, Kristin Sorensen, Subway Sandwich Shop, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Weaner, Wendy’s, and Carol Zachrich.
