DEFIANCE, Ohio – You won’t want to miss the final concert of the 2010-11 season presented by the Defiance College Community Band. The concert will be Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Defiance Community Auditorium in downtown Defiance. This musical group has thrilled audiences with rousing performances this season, and director Vince Polce says the final performance promises to be just as exciting.
Titled “Tributes, Buckets, Some Oldies, and a Frappe Too,” conductor Polce will lead the 85 musicians in an eclectic array of titles all blended for an evening of superb musical entertainment. The concert will feature members of the band as well as a special guest soloist.
Defiance vocalist and gospel singer Sarah Tackett will join the DCCB along with DCCB oboe soloist Tom Ehrman. The DCCB French horns and percussionists will also be featured ensembles.
Tackett is a former Miss Ohio and talent award winner in the Miss America Pageant. Her singing debut began in her kindergarten musical in Van Wert. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, she has an extensive background in musical theatre, television, and radio commercials. As a member of the well-known gospel group, The Tacketts, she performs throughout the United States. She is currently employed as director of enrollment planning at Defiance College.
The concert is free and open to the public. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
