Dr. Ronnie Dunn

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Dr. Ronnie Dunn will be the guest speaker at Defiance College’s Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Thursday, Jan. 19. His presentation, “Racial Profiling: The Content of Their Character or the Color of Their Skin,” will focus on racial profiling as a phenomenon that has been around for many years.
The event will be held in Schomburg Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the College’s Office of Intercultural Relations.
Dr. Dunn is an associate professor of urban studies at Cleveland State University. He is an urban sociologist whose research and teaching interests primarily focus on issues related to minorities and the urban poor, with a particularly emphasis on race, crime, and the criminal justice system. He is a nationally recognized authority on racial profiling, which is the focus of his recently published book, Racial Profiling: Causes and Consequences. His research on racial profiling also appears in scholarly journal articles and college textbooks, and he has published research on police accountability and civilian oversight, health disparities, and the field of urban studies.
