DC offers two upcoming Professional Enrichment and Renewal Courses (PERC) for Educators

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College has two Professional Enrichment and Renewal Courses (PERC) being held in March.

The PERC program is the leading way for busy educators to earn continuing education hours, master’s credit, or licensure/certificate renewal credits. The workshop series complies with the guidelines of the No Child Left Behind requirements for quality professional development and are one credit hour graduate courses. Participants can register for one additional credit hour by completing an independent study form with approval from the instructor. The two-day workshops are offered on Friday from 5 – 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The upcoming workshops include the following:

“Nutritional Interventions for Emotional, Cognitive, and Behavioral Well-Being” will be offered online February 24-25. Students will learn the important role that vitamins, minerals, and diet play in the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral wellbeing of children.

“Building Positive Family/School Relationships” will be offered March 2-3. The participants will come to understand the change that America’s families are going through by reading related articles and discussing system theory. Participants will also research a topic of interest related to family/school relationships.

“Physical Activity in the Classroom” will be offered March 30-31. Participants will be exposed to current theory from a variety of disciplines and perspectives (education psychology, learning theory, pedagogy, physical education and health, growth and development, etc.). This theoretical and practical background will support collaborative learning with the objective of creating useful strategies and ideas for immediate use.
