DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College Chamber Singers will present a “Journey of Genres” for its annual spring choral concert Sunday, April 29, at 4:30 p.m. The event will be held in the sanctuary of St. John United Church of Christ located on 950 Webster St.
The concert will showcase a collection of choral selections from multiple musical genres including classical, jazz, and classic rock. Music of the Broadway stage and Italian madrigals will also be enjoyed by audiences.
“Creating a cohesive program from music of multiple genres can be a challenge, but is enjoyable for the performers and audiences when it comes together successfully,” said director of music programs and Chamber Singers director Andrew Schultz.
The DC Chamber Singers was re-established in the spring of 2010 and has continued to perform on campus and in the surrounding community since. The 28-member ensemble consists of all DC students that perform a mix of sacred and secular music with a variety of classical and popular styles.
The event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken at the end of the performance.
