DEFIANCE, Ohio – Beginning in Fall 2012, Defiance College will offer a social work completion program. The new program gives students the ability to complete a bachelor’s degree in social work in as few as four semesters.
“We’re very excited about the opportunity to offer the professional degree to students who are currently working in the social work field and may have obligations that prevent them from taking day classes,” said Professor Jeff Weaner, social work program director and Schauffler Chair in social work. “We are excited to help these new students fulfill their professional goals as social workers.”
DC’s social work program reflects the most current standards in social work education based on competencies. It has a 93 percent state licensure pass rate from 2001 to 2009 and has been continuously nationally accredited since 1976.
Through the program, students will be able to maximize transfer credits earned at community colleges, attend classes in the evenings or weekends and, depending on transfer credits, may be able to complete coursework in as few as four semesters. Courses offered will be identical in content to the daytime program.
