Defiance College Professor to speak at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration 

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Dr. Dean Johnson, assistant professor of religious studies at Defiance College, will be the speaker at DC’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Thursday, Jan. 24. He will present the topic "Living King's Legacy of Nonviolent Revolution: Resisting Racism and Militarism in 21st Century America," at 7:30 p.m. in Schomburg Auditorium on the Defiance College campus.

The event is sponsored by the College’s Office of Intercultural Relations.

Johnson received his bachelor’s degree from Manchester College and his master’s degree from Bethany Theological Seminary, Richmond, Ind. He also completed his doctorate in religious and theological studies at the Iliff School of Theology at the University of Denver. He joined DC in the fall of 2008 as assistant professor of religious studies and was recently named director of international and global studies. Prior to DC, Johnson was an assistant professor at Goshen College.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
