Sept. 16 Town and Gown
Defiance College and the City of Defiance will host Richard Rozevink on Thursday, Sept. 16, for the next Town and Gown, War of 1812 series presentation. The 7:30 p.m. lecture will be held in the Arts and Media Center.

Defiance College and YouthWorks Partner on Summer Jobs Project
Everyone remembers his or her first job. It's an invaluable experience that teaches time management, social skills, and a strong work ethic. This summer, Defiance College has partnered with YouthWorks, Inc. and the Northwest Ohio Job Center to provide employment for local youth.

Defiance College Named to 2011 Military Friendly Schools List Defiance College has been selected to the Military Friendly Schools list for 2011. This recognition, which is afforded to less than 15% of all colleges and universities in the nation, recognizes colleges and schools which both actively recruit veterans and also provide significant benefits and services to those veterans.

DC receives Energy Efficiency Grant
Defiance College is the recipient of a $753,112 federal grant to improve energy efficiency. The announcement was made by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland’s office. Defiance College is one of 14 Ohio recipients for a total of $10.7 million in grants through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.

Defiance College only Ohio college to receive $50,000 grant from Walmart Foundation & CIC
Defiance College is the only college in Ohio among 30 colleges and universities across the country selected to receive grants under the second round of Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and the Walmart Foundation’s Walmart College Success Awards.

Defiance College Board Approves
Construction of New Field House

The Defiance College Board of Trustees voted its approval at the April board meeting for the College to move forward with construction of a multi-million dollar field house. This new approximately 80,000-square-foot facility will dramatically improve the College’s athletic facilities, providing significantly expanded indoor practice areas for the College’s athletic teams while also benefitting the entire Defiance community.

DC program receives national coverage
A new program in which Defiance College students and faculty are collaborating with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in Detroit has received national media attention. An article on this new “cold case” project has been released on the Wall Street Journal Law Blog.
