DC falls to Centre College

DANVILLE, Ky-- The Defiance College baseball team fell to Centre College, 8-3, in its season opener on Friday.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the strength of a Jeremy Vance RBI double and a David Jackson RBI groundout. Centre College battled back to a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the third inning, before pouring on six runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead for good.

Centre added one more run in the eighth to seal the victory. John Herbert went eight innings and picked up the win for Centre, while Derek Hanson was charged with the loss. James Yenser and Lenny Koesters each had a pair of hits for the Jackets, while Vance and Jackson doubled for DC.

DC is now 0-1 and plays again on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Alice Lloyd College.
