Tampa, FL-- Defiance's bats were alive on Monday in game one of a doubleheader as they pounded out 11 hits against St. Josephs. St. Josephs outscored the Jackets, however, in a 15-5 win.

Jeremy Hawkins paced the Jackets from the plate, going four for four from the plate and knocking in two runs. Eric Tipton had a single and a double, while Phil Kosier added a double and two RBI of his own. Eric Schwab was the only other Jacket with two singles.

Derek Hanson had a rough outing as he pitched two innings and gave up eight hits along with two walks. Hanson gave up eight runs before Jake Reckner and Nicholas Picciano saw relief action.

In the second game of the twin bill, a four-run sixth inning for St. Josephs did in the Jackets, as they suffered a 5-3 loss.

Phil Kosier and Casey Claeys both singled twice for the Jackets.

James Yenser pitched five innings for DC, only giving up four hits. Yenser struck out seven and walked just one, but ended up being charged with the loss. Mike Hill came on in relief for the Jackets.
