Jackets overwhelm Eagles
Orlando, Fla.The Defiance College Yellow Jackets took two from Daniel Webster College in a twinight doubleheader at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex on Friday.
Derek Hanson mowed down the Eagles in the 9-4 game one win, striking out 11 and allowing just two earned runs on eight hits in a complete game. Phil Kosier highlighted the awakened Jacket bats with two triples, while James Yenser led the way with four RBI in a 2-for-4 day. Eric Schwab went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Mike Hill added an RBI and a run in a 2-for-4 performance, while Jordan Wack was 2-for-2 with two runs.
In a 12-2 game two victory, Nicholas Picciano got the win after going the first two innings on the mound and allowing no runs on one hit with two Ks. Jake Reckner went 3 2/3 innings in relief, striking out three, while Dustin Zizelman finished the job with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. Kosier added another triple in game two and led the Jackets with four RBI. Hill also nailed a triple and had an RBI and two runs in a 3-for-4 performance. Schwab went 2-for-5 with a run and RBI, while David Jackson went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Eric Tipton went 1-for-1 in game two with a stolen base.
The Jackets, with the two wins, improve to 4-6 on the year. DC will host Wilmington on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
