James Yenser named HCAC Pitcher of the Week

DEFIANCE, Ohio-- Defiance College’s James Yenser (Ayersville, Ohio/Ayersville) secured a series win for the Yellow Jackets in the finale on Apr. 9 and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. The senior southpaw earned a 3-1 win over visiting Transylvania to allow the Yellow Jackets to claim the season-series, 2-1. Yenser tossed a complete-game seven-inning gem. He allowed just one earned run, five hits and struck out four. He is 2-1 this season on the mound with an earned run average of 0.86.

Yenser also hit .444 at the plate in six games last week with five RBI, four runs, a home run and a double. He is hitting .338 on the season. Defiance is 11-13 overall and 4-5 in the HCAC.
