Jackets drop one against Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College Baseball team fell to Ohio Northern University Thursday afternoon by the score of 10-2.

The Jackets got on the board first in the top of the third on an RBI groundout by Lenny Koesters and added another run in the inning on an RBI single by Jeremy Hawkins. That would be all the runs DC would put up on the day, as the Polar Bears answered with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. ONU added two more RBIs in the bottom of the seventh, and would put the game out of each with four more runs in the next inning.

James Roberson picked up the loss, giving up four runs in 2.1 innings. Hawkins went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the game, while Zach Metzner got a hit in his third straight game, going 1-for-2 with a run scored.

DC, now 14-22, begin the first game of a three-game series against HCAC-rival Bluffton University tomorrow afternoon at Bluffton at 4:00 p.m.
