Jacket Pitching earns DC first ’05 win
DEFIANCE, OhioIn a combined shutout, the Defiance College pitching staff overpowered the Adrian College Bulldogs to lead the Jackets to a 2-0 win at Rutter Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Tyler Stork got the win in 3.0 innings of work, striking out one, while Russ Lupica came in to pitch 2.0 innings, striking out one. Mike Mirabelli and Derek Hanson closed out the Bulldogs with two Ks each. The Jacket pitchers had two walks and gave up just five hits.
Dusty Ahrens led the DC bats with a 2-for-3 day win an RBI in the second inning, scoring Tim Yenser. Mike Hill, who went 1-for-4, later drove in Jeremey Fruhwirth in the bottom of the third. Tim Yenser and Fruhwirth went 1-for-3 and 1-for-4, respectively.
The Yellow Jackets are now 1-7 on the season and will open HCAC play when they travel to Franklin College for a single game on Friday, starting at 3:15 p.m. and a double header with the Grizzlies on Saturday with the first pitch slated for noon.
