BGSU bats too much for DC

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Defiance College Baseball team fell at Bowling Green on Tuesday afternoon, 4-15.

Jeremy Vance led the Jackets at the plate with a 2-for-2 day and three RBI, all on an eighth-inning triple that scored Jeremy Hawkins, Greg Harper and Cris Newcomb. Matt Tycast, Eric Schwab, Mike Mirabelli, Hawkins and Newcomb all added one hit each on the day.

James Yenser started on the hill, going 4.1 innings and giving up six earned runs on seven hits and striking out three. Nolan Reimold led the Falcons with a home run, while Josh Dietz went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The Falcon bats were held in check outside of the fifth and seventh innings, when they scored six and four runs, respectively.

Tyler Stork, Chad Casey and Zach Metzner all came on in relief for the Jackets with Metzner striking out two.

The Yellow Jackets are now 2-10 on the year, while the Falcons climb to 13-6.

DC will next play at Manchester at 3:15 p.m. on Friday before hosting the Spartans in their HCAC home opener on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for noon.
