Defiance at Bluffton Box Score
BLUFFTON, Ohio – Defiance took the field for the fourth time in as many days, falling 8-3 at Bluffton on Tuesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets used five different pitchers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.
DC took the early lead in the top of the first after Tim Pitro singled and later scored on a David Jackson double. After Bluffton plated three in the bottom half of the frame, the Jackets pushed across another run in the second, as Trey Harris scored on a single off the bat of Ben Gates.
Defiance struck again in the fifth inning after Casey Kahsen doubled down the left field line and raced home off a double by Kirk Jesse. The run brought DC to within one at 4-3, but would be the last of the game for the Jackets.
Bluffton (10-13, 4-7 HCAC) pushed its lead to 5-3 with a run in the sixth inning and busted the game open with three more in the bottom of the eighth.
