FRANKLIN, Ind. One day after suffering a shutout loss, the Yellow Jackets’ offense managed just four total runs in Saturday’s doubleheader against a red-hot Franklin team. Defiance lost 8-2 and 5-2 as the Grizzlies ran their win streak out to eight-straight games.
Defiance was one-hit in the opener at Saturday, with Tim Pitro collecting the lone hit and RBI for the Jackets in the 8-2 defeat. Defiance tallied a single run in the third and fifth innings, but Franklin jumped on top with three in the first and two in the second en route to the six-run win.
Matt Wilson worked five innings for Defiance in the game-one loss, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and three walks. Nate White tossed the sixth frame for DC and yielded one run in relief.
Franklin used a four-run third inning in the second game to grab a 4-0 advantage and went on to take the 5-2 victory. DC had seven hits in the game but only managed single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
