April 18 -- Newcomb's two-run double gives Jackets 9-8 win

--Defiance, Ohio -- With a clutch, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth, junior Cris Newcomb gave the DC Yellow Jackets a 9-8 victory over the MIAA-leading Adrian Bulldogs.

Mike Mirabelli got the win by retiring the last Adrian batter in the top of the ninth. Sophomore James Yenser started the game and went six innings with five Ks, while giving-up four earned runs. Tim Yenser went 3-for-3 on the day with an RBI and two runs, while Mike Hill led DC with three RBIs in a 2-for-3 day.

Newcomb ended the day at 2-for-4 with the two RBIs and a run. Eric Schwab and Jeremy Hawkins each scored a run with Schwab going 2-for-4 with an RBI and Hawkins going 2-for-5. Richard Trick scored a run and went 1-for-4 at the plate. Senior Ryan Leininger drove in one and scored one run in his 1-for-5 performance.

Clinton Miller led the Bulldogs with a 2-for-4 performance and three RBIs on a home run in the sixth. Matt Zatkin got the loss for AC, giving up the Newcomb double in the ninth.

DC is now 9-17 on the year and will next host Olivet on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Rutter Field.
