Jackets power past Princes

DEFIANCE, Ohio—The Defiance College Baseball team rolled to a 10-4 victory over Heidelberg College on Tuesday afternoon at Rutter Field.

Jeremey Fruhwirth had another good day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Jeremy Vance also continued his hot streak, going 2-for-4 with two runs. Mike Mirabelli got the win in 6.0 innings of work, striking out three and giving up two earned runs. Russ Lupica got the save, pitching three innings, retiring 8-of-9 batters faced.

DC led by a narrow 5-4 margin going into the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Jackets took advantage of three Prince errors and two walks to score five runs and take a commanding six run lead they would maintain.

Defiance is now 6-15 on the year (3-6 HCAC) and will next host Bluffton University on Friday with first pitch slated for 4:00 p.m.
