May 9 -- DC falls to Spartans
--Defiance, Ohio--DC Baseball fell 17-0 against nationally-ranked Manchester College at Rutter Field on Sunday afternoon.
With a 10-11 conference record, the Jackets have earned a fourth seed next weekend’s HCAC Tournament in North Manchester, Ind.
Jeremy Hawkins had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-3 while Lenny Koesters and Tony Ebersole went 1-for-3 and 1-for-1 respectively. Mike Mirabelli went 5.2 innings for DC, striking out one.
Brian Minix led Manchester with four RBI in a 3-for-5 day at the plate, also scoring three runs. Dan Sprunger went 8.0 innings for the Spartans, striking out nine.
DC will face the Spartans again on Thursday to open the Heartland Conference Tournament. Manchester earned the one seed while Mt. St. Joseph and Franklin occupy the two and three spots.
The Jackets are now 15-23 on the year.
