--Defiance, Ohio—The Defiance College baseball team spent the fall semester promoting reading to students at Spencer Elementary School in Defiance.

Twenty DC baseball student-athletes took part in tutoring, helping the youngsters in their morning reading time every Tuesday morning for eight weeks. Third and fourth graders at Spencer were involved, receiving help with reading during the tutoring sessions.

Future plans are already in the works with a Spencer Elementary Day at Rutter Field during the 2005 season.
